Tarmac Driveway After Care Tips in Worksop

You will enjoy a tarmac driveway for many years if you take care of it. Although we don’t mean to be too strict, these are essential steps to protect your investment.

1 - Never drive on freshly laid asphalt for at least 2 to 3 days.

It is best to wait until it gets warm before driving on the asphalt. Give us a call if you have questions about tarmac driveways and paths.

It’s worth noting your driveway will be weakest and most vulnerable to damage the first year. As the asphalt ages, it will harden and become greyer.

2 – Driveway manoeuvres

Be on the move before you get behind the wheel.

Scuff marks are created by turning the steering wheel while the vehicle’s stationary. If you continue to leave scuff marks in one spot, there’s a chance of serious damage.

3 – Avoid 'point loads' and spread the pressure.

Point loads are objects that exert undued pressure on a single spot. This is something like the motorbike stand, which removes the pressure from the tyres but then puts them through the small area of the metal foot. Others point loads include ladders and feet on caravans.

If this is not possible, you can place a board or stand under your feet to distribute the pressure and spread the load.

4 – Clean up all spills immediately

You can damage the driveway’s tarmac surface by using oil or detergent. Don’t let a spillage go unattended, no matter its size.

Do not hesitate to soak up excess liquid. Cat litter, sawdust and dry sand are good choices.

Make sure to clean up any leftovers with a mixture water-based washing detergent.
